Beginning Figure Drawing Wet & Dry: Self Portrait Dissection in Layers
For this project students start by photographing their entire figure in a strategic pose. Using this photo as a reference, students create a base layer drawing on 22" x 30" drawing paper. After this initial portrait is constructed students create skeletal overlays of the self portrait on frosted mylar over the portrait. Students then add additional imagery to communicate autobiographical information to the viewer. All layers can be done in any grayscale media.

Figure Drawing students working at the advanced level complete a series of 5 or more cohesive artworks that feature the human figure as the primary subject matter. For these self directed projects students consider how material choices, format, and display of artworks supports conceptual communication of their ideas and build a body of cohesive artworks.
